Reims Cathedral, France

As you may know, I just love Christmas markets!

The cute, wooden chalets, the sweet smells, the mulled wine… All this just put me in an happy & christmasy mood! šŸ™‚
Happily in France there are lots of Christmas markets, like one in every little town!! Last year we visited the most famous of all, Strasbourg Christmas market.

This year, we decided to go to the one of Reims, some friends told us it was very nice plus there is a wonderful Cathedral to visit as well in Reims.

So on yesterday’s misty morning, we jumped in the car, direction Reims.

Btw, misty is an understatement: on the highway the fog was so thick, we could only see at 30 meters… it was quite scary!
Nevertheless, we made it to Reims countryside.

The region of Reims is well know for champagne production & our first stop was at some clients of hubby who produce champagne to take the bottles hubby ordered for Christmas.

They also made us visit their vineyard & their firm, explaining us how the champagne production works. We finished the visit with some champagne tasting.

I was too shy to take pictures, so you just have to believe me when I say it was very nice & interesting, sorry! ?

We continued our route to Reims city centre & the Christmas market.

Where we started our tour with an oysters based aperitif – or more exactly, I watched hubby having his aperitif as I don’t like oysters…

After which, ready we were to wander among the wooden stalls!

They settled the Christmas market all around the famous CathedralĀ (apparently, the previous years, the market was in another square & it was much bigger. They changed the location for security reasons. I’ve never been there before, but I found it was very nice nevertheless).

Plus if you go there with children, there’s a big area for them to play, a little train & even some ponies!

I regretted not being a child btw, as I would have loved to ride a pony! šŸ™‚

We went for a more grown-ups’ activity & visited the magnificent Cathedral instead.

As we re-emerged on the market, it was lunch time. As the tradition on a Christmas market, we had sausages, mulled wine & churros!

Moreover, have you seen the blue sky in the pictures?? We’ve been so lucky, we’ve been blessed by the most gorgeousĀ winter sun for visiting a Christmas market!!

We wandered a bit more at the Christmas market & in Reims as well.

Just before we were leaving, the music band arrived, it was so fun as instead of playing traditional Christmas music, they played their version of Rihanna or Lady Gaga songs! šŸ˜‰

& a last thing, if you go to Reims Christmas market, just be aware that you can directly write to Santa Claus!!! :))

After some more wandering, we took the road back to Paris, where we finished this perfect day, with a night at the cinema! We watched “Sully“, which I really liked! The story is beautiful, Tom Hanks plays beautifully & as always, Clint Eastwood made a great movie, simple, true & effective!

  1. Reims looks lovely – and what a perfect day to visit a Christmas market! It makes me want to visit asap and have some mulled wine, churros and roast chestnuts though not altogether! I think I would give the oysters a skip too (yuk). It all looks perfect to put everyone in the festive spirit! #citytripping
