Last week was my mother-in-law birthday & we decided to celebrate it in Paris.
So all the family came for the week-end & on Saturday night we went out for a cruise & dinner on the Seine!
We already went on a cruise on the Seine & I’m always in awe at how beautiful & different the city looks from the river.
You have a new view of the monuments & the buildings & usually all the boats on the Seine cross the center of Paris, allowing you to see all the city’s highlights.
It’s an equally unique experience admiring Paris from the Seine during the day or at night, although at night with all the lights, the atmosphere is quite magical…
Don’t you think? 🙂
We sat at our table with nibbles & champagne arrived as the Eiffel Tower began to sparkle!
While treated to live music…
I never had a Seine river cruise dinner before & it was quite amazing!
I have to say that my father-in-law did things big & we had the best table just on the bow of the boat.
At 20h30 the boat raised the anchor & off we went, enjoying the amazing views scrolling in front of us, marveling at all the lights, chatting, laughing & taking pictures!
My in-laws take probably even more pics than me, so I can snap as long as I want without feeling weird! 😉
In the meantime dinner started, with a delicious pumpkin & butternut squash soup.
Followed by the actual entrée. I went for scallops, as always when scallops are on the menu.
I continued with fish, sea bass with lentils & spinach, really yummy.
While hubby went for the tournedos, which apparently was equally yummy. A special mention goes to the truffle mashed potatoes coming with the tournedos… Moreover, because I usually dislike truffle, whereas I could have eaten all hubby’s truffle mashed potatoes – & maybe I did… 😉
As in the most French tradition, the main course was followed by cheese, tome de Savoie accompanied by a special sweet bread & sweet wine.
& of course one can’t have a proper birthday dinner without cake & candles! 🙂
With the cake came also the moment of the birthday gifts! We offered to the birthday girl 2 tickets to go to Cuba!!
I’m so excited for my in-laws, really ahah! I’ve been to Cuba on a girlfriends road trip some years ago & the trip is still one of my favorite memories!! The country is wonderful & people are so nice & welcoming!! Only by thinking about it, I’d like to go back immediately!
Well, I can always help Mick’s parent to organize their trip & I still have lots of suggestions on places to visit or to stay!
By the way, the 3 chocolate cake was really something! – & sorry I know these dinner pictures aren’t perfect, but the lights inside the boat was really not ideal for taking photos. Although it was perfect for the cozy & romantic atmosphere! 🙂
The monument that really is amazing from the water is the Eiffel Tower. From the Seine one can really appreciate its greatness & uniqueness…
We finished the cruise in front of the statue of Liberty.
Isn’t it one of the most beautiful view, the statue of Liberty with the Eiffel tower behind? 🙂
Sad to leave our beautiful boat, but happy for the wonderful evening we shared, it was time to return to the mainland!
I really suggest a dinner river cruise, it’s quite a magical experience perfect for a special occasion! There are different options & menus. You can find more information as well as book online here.
Just remember to let me know what you think about the Seine cruise if you decide to go! 🙂
