Sailing the Grenadine islands – part 3

Wandering around Union island, the Grenadines

Let’s continue our exploration of the Grenadine islands, shall we?

From Mayreau we continue our way to Union island

  • Union island

Union island is quite different from the other islands, it’s much more modern & touristic: there were coffee shops making chia pudding & avocado toasts & restaurants offering sushi.

It was cute though as there is a colorful, little market & in general the main street is super colorful & jolly!

As our catamaran anchored, we made a beeline to the beach & the lagoon as Union island is the only place in the Grenadines when you can go kitesurfing. Unfortunately we should have booked in advance.

We jealously watched the kite-surfers for a while from the super cute kite-surf school/cafe,

before joining the rest of the crew in the town centre to wander around the market and the colorful shops.

We stopped in en even more colorful cafe for a fresh juice,

  • Canouan

A brief sailing took us to the island of Canouan, our spot for lunch.

Not bad for a lunch spot, right?

We anchored in front of this beautiful beach where we could fish, sunbathe & play in the water!

Not far away a perfect snorkeling spot was waiting for us as well. We discovered a very reach underwater world 🙂

In the afternoon a long, long sailing was ahead us: we had to sail from the Grenadines to St. Lucia.

Not that we complained: I do love sail & proclaimed myself the captain 🙂

^ the Captain was giving the fishes strong alcool, for them not to suffer… it’s sad anyway..

…but we had fresh sashimi for dinner… it’s the food chain, right?

We sat in the nets in the front of the catamaran, jumping up & down with the waves as the boat kept going.

And we could enjoy the beautiful views of the ocean…

In the pic below you can clearly see a storm far away. I’ve never seen something like that before.

Btw, is there something better than sunset over the ocean?

Truth to be said, we all felt asleep before we could arrive in St. Lucia. But hey you know, sea life is tiring! 😉

Which is not that bad, as you don’t really know where you’re waking up & as you open your eyes you discover a totally new, wonderful place! 🙂

So stay tuned to discover St. Lucia with me in the next post! 🙂
